There’s a trend within the corporate office space to bring healthier options into every employee’s workday. And while offering exercise classes, healthy living seminars, and yummy food delivery options are all great ideas, there’s still one big offender at many offices around the country: the traditional vending machine. The often used, but little thought of snack dispenser is the office hot spot for anyone craving an easy morning snack or a mid-afternoon chocolatey treat. The problem is that most of the items offered by a traditional vending machine are filled with fat, empty calories, and little protein. This won’t help keep your staff full for the long haul and doesn’t provide any of the brain boosting nutrients that healthier foods offer.
And when it comes to stocking your vending machine with the right foods, you should feel great about being health conscious for the benefit of your employees. Incorporating more whole grains, fruits, veggies, legumes, and dairy into your diet can help you do more than just help you to stay fuller, longer – the combination of vitamins, protein, and antioxidants can help your staff be more energized, more productive, and happier overall. So if you’re looking to make some changes to what your vending machine has to offer, we’re right behind you – with four of the major swaps you can make for a healthy vending machine today.
Adding healthier options to your vending machine is a great way to offer your employees nutritious food on the go.

Having strong company values isn’t just a way to show what a business stands for. They’re a way to keep different departments on the same page, spark enthusiasm about your brand, and create a stronger connection between company and employees. But just having strong values doesn’t mean that your employees are automatically aware of them – or that they understand how their work can emulate these values on a daily basis.
Increasing employee awareness of your company’s values starts with communication. It involves the leaders of your brand emulating the same values that you expect your employees to work by. To help your staff truly make the company’s values a priority in their work also means you have to come up with creative ways to share the business’s vision and principles on a regular basis. So if your goal is to create a company culture that strives to showcase strong values through the work you do, where do you even start? We’ll walk you through the process – and show you how our corporate catering options can help supplement your efforts.
Using your company retreat as a place to explore how your staff uses the company’s values on a regular basis can help them figure out what the values mean to them and their work.

Comments Off on Gourmet Tacos: Mix Your Lunch Delivery Up with Heart Healthy Options Comments
Tacos are a quick and easy – not to mention delicious – way to grab lunch when you’re trying to work through a big deadline. Traditionally, tacos can be a great way to eat healthy, too. They’re made with meat and beans, which are packed with protein and fiber – keeping your afternoon fueled with energy and aiding with food digestion. Ordering extra veggies on your taco can also give you a boost of essential vitamins and minerals, helping you to reach that daily requirement. Cheese is great for adding a little dairy into your diet, which helps keep your bones strong and puts osteoporosis at bay. And choosing a hard corn shell over a soft shell can keep this lunchtime meal gluten free and within your daily dietary goals.
When it comes down to it, tacos can be a great choice for your midday meal. But regular old tacos can get pretty boring rather quickly. So when you’re craving a little Mexican infusion in your day – but want to switch things up from the regular beef and cheese combo – what should you do? To help you find a tasty lunchtime meal, we’ve compiled some of our favorite gourmet taco selections for your next order on Waiter.com.

As you’re likely already aware, a workplace wellness program can inspire change within your organization by encouraging your staff to lead healthier, more productive lives. Encouraging a healthier lifestyle by offering workout opportunities during the day, providing healthy meals through services like Waiter.com and sharing information about both the benefits of being healthy and how to integrate better choices into your life are great starting points. And since research shows that a healthier workforce can drive down your company’s health care costs, there are some serious financial benefits to developing a wellness plan for your business.
But with all of that being said, a workplace wellness program can only be effective if you’re getting employees to participate, and if they are inspired to incorporate the tools and opportunities you provide into their life outside of the office. While wellness programs can certainly be scaleable, your intention is likely to encourage as many people from your team to participate as possible. If you’re searching for a great way to increase participation in your program and instill a healthier lifestyle in your team, a company-wide contest may be the perfect way to kick off your next workplace wellness series. If you’re not sure what that looks like or how to best implement it, we’ll lay out all of the basics to get you started.

Let’s face it: hamburgers are one of the most popular lunch (and dinner) foods in America. There’s just something about that delicious combination of red meat, starchy bun and array of condiments that satisfies cravings–to the tune of about 50 billion burgers consumed a year in America. That translates to about three burgers a week per person across the country. That’s a lot of beef.
Eating red meat with some of your meals can certainly be a good thing. While it’s a food that’s best consumed in moderation, there are benefits to including it in your weekly diet. Red meat helps support lean muscle tone because it naturally contains nutrients like creatine, carnosine and active forms of Omega-3 vitamins, which can’t be found in plant-based forms of Omega-3’s. It’s also loaded with protein, which means you won’t feel like you need another lunch at 3 PM.

Comments Off on Workplace Wellness: Three Apps to Help Encourage Employee Engagement Comments
With the explosion of workplace wellness programs among companies across the country, you probably already know that there are things you can do to help your staff improve their health. After all, with chronic diseases like diabetes, poor heart health and obesity accounting for 78 percent of American health care spending, it’s clear that employers need to encourage their staff to lead healthier lives. But instituting healthy options for your staff is actually the easiest piece of the wellness process–getting employee buy-in, and participation is where many businesses struggle. In fact, most companies see about 15 to 20 percent staff participation in healthy initiatives, which certainly shows that there is room for improvement.

When it comes to a healthy lunch, bacon probably isn’t on your short list of top ingredients to add to the menu. However, in moderation this tasty treat isn’t so bad, and it perks up any corporate catering plate! While it’s certainly high in fat, it’s also the right high protein, low carb mix to fill you up and provide energy for hours, which can actually decrease your need for less healthy snacks mid-afternoon. Not only that — bacon is trendy! It’s wrapped around your favorite cuts of beef and pork, it’s a common topping for salads, and it’s even mixed into many chocolate desserts at high-end restaurants.
Bacon also contains an essential nutrient called choline, which can help to improve memory and intelligence in humans — making bacon a great ingredient to include on your next corporate catering menu. But if you’re struggling to come up with unique ways to integrate this delicious meat into your next meal, what are your options? Don’t fret: we’ve compiled six delicious options to help you plan a great meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner that adds a little bacon flavor to the mix.

Comments Off on National Seafood Month: Five Delicious Salmon Dishes to Include on Your Food Delivery Order Comments
October is National Seafood Month, which means it’s a great time to start incorporating more fish into your midday meal. And the statistics make it easy to see why incorporating a few servings of fish into your weekly dietary plans can do great things for your health. Fish is an excellent source of lean protein, something that helps you feel fuller, longer. Eating foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids (like fish) can reduce your risk of heart disease. Not only is it believed that a diet rich in this type of unsaturated fat can help to reduce inflammation in your body, it can help to lower your blood pressure and reduce blood clotting – things that are known to lead to heart attacks. And it’s also been shown to help improve cognitive abilities in children.
Keeping that in mind, salmon is one of the most heart healthy – and easiest to find – types of fish in the United States. And with the numerous ways to prepare it, there’s a delicious salmon lunch that everyone in your office is sure to love. So whether you’re ordering for a crowd or just for yourself, there are plenty of ways to integrate more salmon into your diet during the month that encourages everyone to eat more seafood.

Now that the seasons are changing and the weather is turning a bit chillier, you might find yourself craving a flavorful bowl of soup for your midday meal. And while there are the easy traditional favorites like chicken noodle, tomato and potato bacon, sometimes these choices can be loaded with cream and fat, which doesn’t always make for a productive afternoon.
To mix things up, trying some Asian soups can give you the cozy warmth you’re looking for from your lunchtime soup order. Plus these options are packed with flavor – and sometimes lots of spice! Most Asian soups are made with a chicken stock base, then built upon with vegetables, meats, and lots of flavor. Many offer a full serving of veggies in just one bowl – and because they’re also usually low in calories, Asian soups can be a great way to manage your weight and keep your daily dietary goals on track.
